Flexible & Collaborative Working
Background
There is a growing requirement for all public sector organisations to deliver services in the most effective manner; to ensure provision of high quality services to citizens at an affordable and sustainable cost. In order to meet these demands organisations are embracing flexible and mobile working and increasing internal and cross agency collaboration. The focus of the mobile and flexible workstream is to maintain awareness of the developing trends in service delivery and identify or develop the necessary supporting technological and related solutions.
Vision
The vision of the workstream is to develop solutions and share knowledge that enable the group to jointly deliver solutions across the SLG based on common strategic objectives and priorities to improve employee productivity and allow for shared practices that will increase efficiencies. The SLG also share information on current and tested solutions to support increased take up of flexible working.
Objectives
Sharing of good practice around flexible and mobile working from actual technical solutions through to supporting HR procedures.
- Deliver a range of innovative, flexible and mobile working solutions across a range of service areas;
- Obtain high-level business sponsorship and business input in the development of solutions;
- Ensure that key aspects of the flexible and mobile working solutions are transferable across Local Authorities;
- Development of robust business cases that illustrate the return on investment from both a financial, service improvement and sustainability perspective;
- Evaluate how infrastructure and emerging technology, such as video conferencing, can enable flexible working.
