Microsoft
- Microsoft's mission is to enable people and businesses throughout the world to realise their full potential. Through this we believe we can help the UK become a leader in the world's digital economy.
Microsoft has always demonstrated a clear vision and commitment to supporting the development of the UK economy. In 1982 Microsoft established its first international subsidary in the UK and in the 1997, Microsoft established its first research lab outside of the US in Cambridge. More recently, two leading UK computer gaming houses, Rare and Lionhead joined Microsoft Games Studios and the company's growing UK ecosystem includes over 30,000 partners.
Microsoft UK encouraged the creation of the Local Authority Shared Learning Group via our Solutions Sharing Network program designed to help public sector organisations to:
- Re-use, share new solutions and best practice for Local Authorities in the UK;
- Provide Local Government future business directions as input to future Microsoft technology solutions;
- Create innovative business solutions using Microsoft technologies for Local Government.
Microsoft is committed to help build universal access to technology for every person, organisation and business in the UK. To further this cause, Microsoft has launched its 'Unlimited Potential' programme: based on a commitment to help promote technology literacy, supported by a significant long term investment of money and software.
